My Story
Jordan Sterling Pike has always been a big, gay nerd.
When time in more mundane sectors of the workforce was proving creatively unfulfilling, he turned to a life-long interest for inspiration: video games. Jordan traveled across Canada to pursue a University education, finding the perfect fit at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Now having graduated with a major in Media Studies and a minor in Computer Science, Jordan aims to recontextualize the idea of video games, and adjacent interactive digital works, as a legitimate and impactful medium for artistic expression, despite what critics like Roger Ebert might posit.
His love of daydreams, whimsy, the spooky, and the absurd inspire Jordan to immerse others in the stories that exist inside his head through games and virtual spaces. He spent his studies exploring game design and development with a focus on storytelling and queer representation, learning softwares like After Effects, Maya, Substance Painter, and Unity along the way.
Working on a number of personal projects that explore emotion, perspective, and non-linear storytelling, as well as collaborative pieces like the pre-colonial interactive visualization of Kelowna in Waterways, has allowed Jordan to develop his skills in 3D modeling, world building, and animation, ultimately helping him approach coding as the creative glue that can bind these elements together.
